Default Jiffy gear box.

Anyone ever have an issue with the gear boxes on Jiffy augers. Mine is making a severe shudder from around the drive train area when it has a load (digging). Its not very long that it lasts, mabey 6 revolutions of the auger, but its not looking good. I havent taken it apart yet, im scared of what i might find. Does anyone take theirs apart and re-lube... If so, what do they use for lubricant?? I cant imagine a gear box being cheap....

keep a strain on er.

I had to pull my Strikemaster apart twice due to broken gears. Its really a basic setup in them I suspect a Jiffy would not be much different. The manufacturer said to pack it with snowmobile ( winter ) grease. I have since given away the Strikemaster and now have a trouble free Jiffy. I would try opening up your gear box and have a look. BUT that's just me, hopefully one of the other members here have some Jiffy advice for you.

Dodger.
