Pretty much the norm. I fished it Sunday all day with a couple of buddies. We got to Mulhurst at 7 a.m. and began fishing for whites....yes whites! My first and second cast I had on two different whites. Lost the first one and snapped off the 2nd.....then it went cold for me for whites. One of my buds managed to take home two whites pushing the 4 lb mark. Real beauties! I fished walleye with a fly rod for the day and managed over 20. Biggest one was just over 50 cm. The magic depth seems to be 9.5 feet which is a little deeper than I would have expected.

Good luck and good fishing!

Was out for the May Long weekend. Easily over 200 Walleye for the weekend. Same spot as always. Tried some new places as well. Lot's of boats out on Sunday, the other days were not quite as busy as the wind was howling.

Hey Octane. The good ole wire worm with a single maggot is the ticket. Really the same presentation as through the ice. Very little surface activity on the weekend.

cmfic1, we were in a 12 foot aluminum - misty river with a 15 hp Merc. Sounds like a different boat.

Quick update all. I fished last night with a bud at Pigeon. Below is the report that I posted at another board. One of the most amazing fishing evening I have had:

----------
A buddy of mine, James, took me out to Pigeon for an evening of fishing yesterday evening.

We started with trolling around the PP. Complete waste of time. We were still skunked by 9 p.m. when the F&W creel survey pulled up and we had nothing to add other than the 2 hours of no fish....weeee.

On Sunday they were in at 9.5 feet. Not to be found last night. So, we moved deeper until we got some hits. The magic depth was 16 feet. Much deeper than I woud have expected. Then we anchored up and got to jigging.

We quickly went from skunk to fish-per-cast. I guessing that I caught somewhere around 70 walleye from 9-11 p.m. Simple jig and minnow. Smaller sized jig with a medium sized minnow seemed to be the right size. Many that we caught were extremly chunky and in that 48-50 range. If you have those tags, you will be one happy fisherperson. Those that have 50 and over tags, no prob. We caught at least a dozen or so over 50 cm.

Now for the amazing stuff. With the calm water the whitefish were going bananas and jumping. The best sight was a huge white that come up and left the water, fin straight up, and pushed forward with its tail for about 4 feet in an impressive arc shooting water backwards about 6 feet. It was the coolest thing I have seen a fish pull off! I wish I would have a movie cam in hand rolling at that point in time. It had to be seen to be believed. I did try some wire worms under a slip bobber but no takers.

More amazing stuff. The lower the sun got the more insane the walleye feedbag was. As we would catch a walleye and bring it up, ususally 1-2 others would follow it up. They would wait patiently for the release and for the mashed minnow to fall and then hammer it. This played out again and again. If you looked over the side with polarized glasses you could actually see a school of about 5-6 walleye swimming around about 5 feet down from the boat. Nothing you put down there lasted more than 30 seconds. We started floating minnows and catching walleye off the surface.....that was a first for me. Also a first, the walleye frenzy got so nuts that they would hit any floating object. We watched several walleye fight over a piece of floating reed....then a leaf....then a small floating stick....well the hell!!! Talk about hungry fish. I have never been in a feeding frenzy like that. Truly nuts!

Cheers!

Sweet report...I sure cant wait to fish Pigeon sometime, i'm so anxious to try for those whites, I bet they fight hard! The ultimate would be dryflies, but that might not heat up for a few weeks yet.

SNAPfisher, sounds like a good night, usually about par for this time of year on Pigeon.

I had the Family out last Sun. and the action was like you posted. My little Guy(5) prolly caught about 35 himself.

Although, I have never targeted Whites before on open Water, I may have to give it a whirl, I will be out there this Sat & Sun.

Anyone else goin?

Nope cmfic1 I never did see ya last year. Although I don’t think I went 5 days without fishing there last year. I fish a lot by Grandview with a white & tan colored Lund. It says "Sir Walter" on it.

Last year I remember talking to a fellow on here who had a black Ford with a Black boat, I managed to see him a week ago.
There was also a guy with a Crestliner who posted here. He caught the one Walleye with the chicken bone stuck in it.
