Dont know the real name but we call it a loop knot. Pretty much the same as a clinch, just has a loop on the end

A loop to loop tippet connection allows you to use a different brand for the tippet if desired and keeps the leader configuration constant as you change tippet.

Tripple surgeon's knot. #1 choice

Or the Duncan loop. #2 choice

As for line you can't pay me enough to use Vanish
Segar is the original manufacture of Florocarbon. I buy the 200 yard spools of it for as much as you buy a small 15 - 20 yard spool from Rio or any of the other ones on the market. Can't believe they can continue to rip us off like they do.

If I am having trouble with knots, I use an app called "Knot Wars". The app is free and has animated step-by-step instructions on how to tie different knots with different material (mono, fluro, braided etc). It also breaks down which knots are for what purpose - loop knots, line to line knots, line to lure knots. Hope this helps.

for small flys (#18-#24) a double davie knot works just dandy, nice and small and relatively strong.

Streamers - Loop knot

Drys/bigger nymphs - Polymer Knot

I have been using what I learned on, as being Lefty's loop, it has other names.
It allows the fly to work its movements, you can set the loop sizes easily.

I agree with the loop to loop for the reasons above - plus it is also one of the stronger knots as well (if not strongest)
