Default Tikka T1X_Shot Show Pics

Just got these pics from my friend Dan at the 2018 Shot Show in Las Vegas. The rifle will be black for now (Stainless will come later), MSRP is $499 in the US and available in April down there.

What I didn't like to hear is that the barrel is NOT threaded in to the action and is held in place with two set screws, just like the CZ 455.

Not sure with that in mind, I would long for one.

Your buddy should have stood a little closure for that pic of them on the rack. Barrel held in place with set screws, hmmm now I have to see what the new CZ rimfires are gonna be like.

I have been looking for a new bolt action 22. Nothing against the CZs, I just don't care for then. Am seriously considering ordering one of these. Only question is 16 or 20 inch. Everything I have read states that 16" gives maximum velocity in a .22lr. With a scope, is there really any benefit to the extra 4 inches?

I get excited about most "NEW" rimfire announcements, but I'm waiting for a critical/unbiased range report on both this, and the Ruger Precision rimfire before unleashing my very modest stash of gun $.

Also thinking my first Tikka should probably be a .204R. If only the Super Varmints were down around $649.....

here is a email I received,

The Tikka T1x rimfire rifle is designed to handle a wide range of shooting tasks. Its unique barrel has a cross-over profile, which offers you the benefits and stability of a heavier barrel without noticeably increasing the overall weight. It’s a rimfire rifle of unparallelled quality and craftsmanship that performs perfectly at the range and in rough terrain.
Available in 3 offerings
22LR 20" Barrel
22LR 16" Barrel
17HMR 20" Barrel

Lots of the older target rifles (Anchutz and Walther if I remember correctly) have a press fit and set screw style set up.

Also, there are lots of CZ455s that shoot really well with their barrel system. I would say the bigger problems with the CZs is the declining quality rather than their barrel attachment method.

Maybe we should all wait till a review comes out before condemning it. Could be a tack driver for all we know.
