Default 2023 Canadian Trapshooting Championships

The shoot is under way in Brandon, MB. Today marks the start of the championship events. Preliminaries were held Wed-Thurs- Friday and some really good scores have been posted. Wednesdays singles saw three shooters tie for winner with 100 straight apiece and Thursdays singles saw eight shooters tie with 100 apiece! Other events shooters posted scores as high as 98 from the 27yd line in handicap and doubles scores as high as 99. Quite a field of competition this year and AB shooters are putting in a good showing. Work schedule put a wheel in the spokes for attending this year. Hopefully we can make next years in Vancouver.

Here is a link to the scoreboards.

Yes I would have loved to be there but my grandson graduated on Thursday so that sort of threw a monkey wrench into things as I would have spent 18 hrs driving for 4 hrs of shooting which would have just tuckered me out so I just bit the bullet and decided not to go this year. Next year in Vancouver God willing

Default Did our Elk11 copmpete?

I rarely shoot trap, I have never actually shot a round of trap, unless it was wobble trap. And I haven't competed at skeet since the 90s.

Default I wish more hunters were better shots!

As a dog trainer it has always grieved me that hunters were such poor shots. They buy expensive guns, outfits but can't hit a bird on the wing for love or money. I don't have any idea why they don't practice.

I shoot a .410 for upland (pheasants) and people think I am some kind of great shot. I'm not, but at 15 yards anything else is way too much gun. I don't miss and my friends say it is because the dog is giving me clues. Thats true, if you pay attention the dog will tell you when the bird is going to flush. I don't mean by "breaking".

If you just watch your dog and let someone else shoot, like Elk, you will see what I mean.

Start getting ready for next season.

yup me to, when there are big honkers coming in with the landing gear down the adrenaline is running a bit higher than shooting a little orange clay bird, ask me how I know that

Some damn good shots on this forum. I’d like to put FranNK28, Waldew, and Elk11 in the blind. I think I’d just run my dog and clean birds. LOL.

The trick would be to shoot when they do and say you got a few hits.

Well they say you shouldn't poke the bear but I am going to. You can't count on a trapshooter (Waldedw) for backup but your dog would love the big bags of treats he makes for them on his dehydrator!

That is great! Congratulations to him. There was a few other AB shooters that brought home hardware. Congrats to all!

I marked a few names I recognize. Waldedw may recognize a few more I missed or don't know?

Do both his parents shoot and have a little sideline business selling target shooting supplies? I have an inkling I know who he may be? I didn't recognize or find the name Colton on the CTA scoreboard and wondered if you meant Conor?
