Default Bugs!

Was fishing down at the NSR and found a little patch of shoreline that looked like it was totally alive

Very strange...when I first showed up it was cloudy, and they were thick on the ground. Every time the sun came out a whole bunch would fly away, but it would stop every time the sun went behind a cloud, then they'd start flying again when the sun came out. There were so many you could hear them...kinda creepy

Oops, I totally forgot about this thread.

I'm very uneducated on my local bugs, but after a little Googling I'm reasonably sure that they're water boatmen

Looks like Mayfly larvae/nymphs. It's about the right time of year for them to be heading to shore and peaking.. late April at the lower elevations. (One of my fav fly patterns is the Mayfly Dun.)
