Default 260 Rem and 130 grain bullets

Anyone willing to share their favorite powder used with 130 grain bullets in the 260 Rem?

I shoot 130's in my 6.5x47Lapua.

Currently using Berger VLD over RL-15 however RL-17 shows some promise as well.

H-4350 looks like it would also be a champ!

That's the bullet I'll be loading. I have info for H4350 loads but not for RL17. Do you have anything for RL17, something I could start off with?

I purchased a 260 for my girlfriend last year and have worked up a reasonable load... its not a zinger but is pretty consistant:

OAL 2.760
Bullet: 130 Grain Berger VLD
Powder: 36.5 Grains IMR 4320
Primer : Win Large
Brass: Nosler Custom

Averages 2567.8 appx 80fps max spread on the Velocity.

A slightly compressed casefull of H4831-SC for bullets from 120 - 130 grains works for me when I occasionally want some velocity to go along with decent accuracy without going overboard on the pressure.... your mileage may vary.

Bushrat,

Would you mind stating how many grains and what velocity that powder charge produced.

In my 6.5X47 Lapua, I shot 39Gr of RL-17. Accuracy was equal to RL-15 but velocity was a little less. There is certainly room for more powder in this cartridge.

In the 260 Alliant has 44Gr RL-17 listed for a 120Gr bullet and and 41Gr listed for a 140Gr.

Give it a shot!

Over max load, 129 a-max, 50 gr H-4831 in a 24" gaillard, hovers around 2900 fps, crunches when you seat the bullet, very compressed, bullet seated into the lands about .010. Work up to it, use your discression. As you know it may or may not work in your rifle.

I use the 130 gr VLDs in my 6.5x55 I have found that RL 19 and IMR 4350 work really good for me in that. Miight wanna look at those as well.
