Wow, the things you worry about.

Is this a bolt handle? It wasn't the question but I'd like to suggest no checkering.

But if you do, then with border. :-)

I was definitely leaning towards a border, but after looking at these examples of the same bolt knobs I think I prefer it without.

The bolt won't be silver.

Whats the rest of the rifle going to be like? I think it depends on the level of the trim/engraving on the rest of the receiver/stock combo. The bolt needs to match and fit in with the level of extravagance of the rest of the rifle.

Agreed and the rifle will be fairly subdued. It will be a Model 70 Classic, the tang will be reshaped, the bolt release built up and checkered, and possibly a small bit of engraving on the floor plate.

Holy!! That's classic alright. Can't wait for pictures of the finished rifle.

I like 'no border'. Especially if the rest of the rifle will be fairly modestly embellished.

The border would finish it for sure.
when looked at with the border.., it tells me someone went the extra mile to make it stand out.

If that was my rifle, when I brought it up to shoot I wouldn't be able to see the border without my reading glasses.

It matters not to function, therefore it's irrelevant.

This has all been very helpful and made my decision much easier.

Anyway, I've decided and the work has been commissioned. Now we wait.
