I'm curious what hunters currently use for pre-season scouting of an area before hitting the field...

Topographic maps, county maps, Google Earth, other??

Would a hard copy topographic map with recent aerial photography be of use?

What kind of information would be useful on the map (ie. topographic features, section fabric, wmu boundaries, county/md boundaries, grid lines, etc)

What would be better...

1. Single large map by NTS (similar to topo maps size and scale)
2. Set of smaller maps by WMU
3. other

Aerial photos and a set of glasses and you will see every coulee,hill. Very cheap but you will spend a bit of time going thru pictures.well worth the money, help you find secret water holes,funnel routes,etc.

Sounds like a great resource. Are the images available for purchase? Is this the only location to view these images, could there also be a location in Cowtown?
