Default Fly fishing for perch

Anybody try this on Alberta lakes? love fishing for perch and figured it would be fun with a 2 wt or even the 5wt.

Smile It worked great in Ontario

They hit just about anything. I had some very crude mosquitoes that I had tied and they worked just fine.

They were going nuts last summer for dragonfly or damselfly larva patterns. I had such a blast watching my nephews faces as they pulled one after another for hours!

Try a #8 or #10 -3x long hook, rolled muddler. It is used on the coast for cut throat trout but works like hot dam on rainbows. Super easy to tie also.

Perch will rise when there is a hatch. Caught perch on caddies dries in Manitoba. I expect that the situation happens everywhere.
Seen small perch rising in Cow Lake.

Cool... thats something to remember for next summer. I assume if caddis, then why not other kinds of dry flies... grasshoppers for example.

PS: thanks for the reply!

Ive literally caught perch on just a bait hook, with no bait!!! Fly fishing for perch isn't much of a challenge, but if your gona do so, a 2 or 3 weight rod would be the way to go!!!
