Depending on how big of a hunk you need, check local dog stores.
Petsmart only has deer tines but global pet foods used to get a decent assortment, you'd just have to see about drying it. Guess it depends what your looking to use it for

I think most guys hang onto them as a reminder, I have a bag of all the ones I have taken out of elk I shot or sometimes we share one each if hunting with a buddy. I don't think many guys give them away....I could be wrong.

Default Ivories

It's a nice gesture to make something for someone else but ivories seem to be a thing that you have to earn yourself. Then it means way more when you use them as a present.

I've earned my share and made things out of them. Just looking to make something new. Maybe the guys with cow elk wouldn't want them.

Ivories are ivories...whether they come from a cow or a bull .

Elk ivories are worthless, unless you collected them yourself, then they're priceless.

I am sorry to say , but Grizz and Lefty have it right.. I have a bag that I wouldn't part with nohow either, but maybe someone might, I even went as far to tag them to remember the date and where they were taken.

Might sound odd for some, but I have spent countless hours polishing them , and do once a year as they are quite special to me. I will make some wicked jewelry for my wife and me, hoping for our 25th Anniversary. Necklaces and rings for us both.

Good luck in your search, and don't give up, I have talked to people who didn't even know elk had ivory and left them in the bush.

To most they are very valuable for sure. Some don't know, which is like some don't care about antlers either.

You should post some pics of the jewelry when it's done.
I'm sure there must be some nice stuff out there. (The only pics I've seen of it were gaudy and gross).
If I ever shoot an elk, I want to cut the ivories square, and make a pair of dice out of them

Default Elk ivories

I'm thinking of having cuff links made out of mine, anyone know who I should get to do the work?

There is always meaning in a selfish gesture.

Hope it all turns out!

Out of idle curiosity, what was selfish about fogducker sending the OP his ivories?

Lmfao.

Autocorrected and missed it.

Typed in selfless. Lol

That for pointing it out. Should of doubled checked that word. Happened before.

It was a selfless gesture. As such...there is additional meaning to the items once finished.

Sorry. Typo exposed. Pretty good example of similar words...big differences.

Sincere Merry Christmas back at ya.
