General boat purchase question

If I wanted a Lund boat and a Yamaha motor and neither boat or motor dealer handles the motor or boat I want how does that work. If I buy a boat at one dealer and a motor at another who would set up the boat and motor?

My advice (obviously not wanted) is to buy a Crestliner with a Mercury.

Lund/Yammy combo is basically the best combo you can get, period. I'm following this as I'll be in the exact same market between now and next spring...

Motor dealer would install and setup. If you go this route you should ensure the boat you buy is not rigged at all so you aren’t paying for two sets of rigging.

We bought a Lund a few years back. We're in Calgary. We contacted every dealer in AB, SK and MB.
Winnipeg Sport and Leisure carried Lund and Yamaha as well as Merc.
We ended up with Lund/Merc from Rainbow in Edmonton.

Definitely worth it to shop around and be willing to travel.

That’s the set up I have for my work boat... I’d rather the Lund. No preference on yammy vs merc though...

Not sure about the larger engines but the 9.9 mec and 9.9 yamaha are the same engine .

Just different plastic on the outside.

There is one Lund dealer in Saskatchewan that is also a Yamaha dealer Nipawin Motor Sports. However I just checked their inventory and all the bigger Lund boats have Mercury motors on them. The tiller boats have Yamaha motors. Might be your best bet to find a dealer that deals both Lund and Yamaha and start from there. I’m sure when they order boats they could get one bare and then install whatever brand and size of motor you wanted. Then when you go pick it up you could fish Tobin for a couple days.

Don't think so. Tohatsu makes the Merc, Tohatsu and Nissan up to 50hp Yamaha makes their own. "One look at the Yamaha and the first thing you see is the handle configuration. Totally diff from Merc or the other 2, also the Yamaha comes stock with the ability to flush the motor, not on the merc or other 2.

At one time he would do a Lund with a merc, yamaha or honda outboard.

I have a Mec 150 and it has a flush connection .

An Alumacraft with an Evinrude Etec is another option to consider.
