Default Salmon Fishing!!

So I'm in Vancouver working for a week and have this Saturday off. Decided to look into booking a charter & who would have thought! With a few days notice I was able to book a trip for Saturday!! This is going to be awesome! Definitely crossing something off my bucket list. & I hopefully get to bring some Salmon home with me. Nothing like spending time on the water with some friends, a few beers and a wet line! Cheers to everyone's summer fishing!

Yes, I contacted a few charters out of Vancouver and 1 had a cancellation and I scooped it up. I bet it is! One day get out to the Island and do another trip maybe out with Jamie!

Have fun. As mentioned it'll wreck you. I'm headed to the QCI tomorrow for my annual week of fishing and crabbing.

FYI, Jamie is located out of Prince Rupert. If you are going to the Island there are several great Charters out of Uculelet and Tofino but I would suggest David Jr at Serengeti Fishing Charters out of Port Hardy. Port Hardy is a great location and David fishes hard and fills coolers!!

For sure. Sorry I didn't phrase that properly. I do business trips up to Prince George so Prince Rupert wouldn't be too much of a stretch. But I will definitely write down Serengeti Fishing Charters for the future. I'm already dreaming about this trip! Back some years I did a couple east coast charters out from P.E.I. but I feel like this is going to blow that out of the water! I will definitely be posting pictures from Saturday's adventure!

Piles, someday I am sure we will see you here.
Let's get lucky and get you on one of these Northern Monsters!

Let me know when you are in the area.

Good luck down south.

Jamie

Default Well.. Fishing is fishing!

Got out yesterday for a 5 1/2 hour trip The guys are Bonnie Lee charters were very nice and very accommodating on such short notice. A good friend of mine from high school joined me on the adventure! We were spoiled and got the 28' boat and a good' ol salty skipper by the name of Eugene. Sun was up nice and high, had a cool breeze every now and again, was looking like it was going to be a great day! Found out that Eugene was the only one around that morning who's boat landed anything (a 25 lb Chinook) and that the bite was really there. We were hoping that with the change in tides it would pull some back in and that they would be hungry. Got out to the grounds and got the gear in the water. At the end of our first full pass, maybe 45 mins in, WHACK! the line goes a rippin! Eugene jumps out of nowhere to grab it as I'm resisting every instinct not to grab the gear my self! He pulls the rod out and gets the hook up. Turns to us and asks who's up! My eyes are glimmering but I figured since we already had a great hit I'll let me friend take over since she's never done too much fishing and give her the opportunity to land a nice one! Well...... That plan backfired.. about 2 mins into the first fight she gave it too much slack and as fast as it started, it was over. We spent the next hours basking in the sun, swapping stories and experiences and hoping to hear that drag screaming. But this was not going to be the day I catch my first salmon. Hour after hour went by, but no one out there seemed to be connecting on anything.. The bite was definitely not on. But this is how fishing goes, and I still got a great experience out of it and can never complain when your in good company with lines in the water on a beautiful day. On the bright side! This means that there will definitely be more salmon fishing to come!! Hope everyone's having a great weekend! I'll post some non-fish pictures up when I get a chance! Cheers!

As fun as salmon fishing is...why wouldn't you book a sturgeon trip?? Lots of hogs being pulled out this year.

Well considering I booked it with only a few days notice and still managed to get out I'd say I'm pretty lucky. And you could say that about any species of fish one year or another. I've done sturgeon fishing and I thought that maybe it was time to try Salmon given the opportunity. Thanks for your input pdfish
