Default Kananaskis lake. Any fish?

This will be the first year that I haven’t bothered with either the upper or lower lakes in 20 years. Just wondering how the Cot Thoat fish is. Last year was horrible. To the point I wrote it off as another Alberta fishing opportunity down the tubes. Could care less about the bull trout. It’s more of about politics with bull trout than fishing opportunity. Just wondering.

Fished lower all last week. 2 7s, 3 6s and 2 5lbs, all bulls. Never targeted the cutts but did have about a 3lb follow in my spoon and lots rising.

4 were on a gleen/white/black G-force. Caught 3 on a 4" green plug, and 1 on a pink with black dots kinda like a cutt pattern spoon. The Cutt that followed was also chasing the trout patterned spoon. I have had luck on cutts other years with a green wedding band with a white or pink jig on the hook.

If a guy could use bait ,fishing would be much better.

I’m gonna say that if you didn’t believe this and learned to fish without bait the fishing would be much better.

My neighbor was just filleting a couple of 3 to 4 pound rainbows for supper this afternoon that he and his wife caught in upper Kananaskis today.

Just need to learn how to use lures and bait will seem like a nuisance

So we are camping there next week and were looking forward to fishing the upper lake. Probably shore fishing....maybe from a dinghy....spoons? What would work jigging if we made it in a non powered boat?

Assuming you mean Cot Throat, here is a lovely Duvet you can purchase at a decent price:

I wondered that too when I saw my neighbour cleaning his fish. I don't know him real well as he only moved in a month or so ago. Maybe he was protecting his real fishing spot!
