Default Winchester 1876 NWMP Saddle Ring Carbine - Care/Maintenance Help

Hi All,

Attached are a couple photos of Winchester 1876 NWMP Saddle Ring Carbine that I need help determining the best way to bring it back to life. As you can tell it has had quite the adventure.

The NWMP ordered about 1200 of these and utilized them from 1878 -1914. These rifles have a arched 'NWMP' stamped on the stock. I am not sure how many of these rifles are still in circulation. I just recently inherited this rifle from my father (retired RCMP) who I believe obtained it from his Grandfather (retired NWMP). If anyone has any additional information on this rifle, it would be very helpful.

Thank you very much in advance for any and all help here!

A friend of mine in Regina traded one in 45-75 to a collector for a new Uberti 76 in 50-90 it was a good deal because he paid $350 for it at estate sale, Why can't I ever find these sales.

Please don't refinish that rifle!

It tells a million stories the way it is, were you to attempt to refinish it to shiny and new, it becomes a blank page instead of a fabled tale. Have reputable gunsmith check it over and make sure it's safe to fire if you're so inclined to shoot it, otherwise just keep it clean and dry with a bit of an oil rub down now and then

I agree, dont get me wrong, I don't want to refinish the rifle, I just want to insure it stays in good condition and does not deteriorate. The caliber is .45/75

Default Nwmp

If the gun is ever for sale I'll give you 5000 for it . I would have to check the serial number to ensure that it is in fact Northwest mounted police Pophamer@gmail.com. I wouldn't touch it I mean don't clean it or do anything to it
