Default May Chironomids

Matched the hatch at a nearby lake perfectly on the weekend. What a day. My golden fishing buddy is usually waiting at attention when I get a fish on so he can get busy licking the net clean but after an hour of fish after fish he just settled down in the canoe for a nap with a bored expression lol.

Just took them out of their 24h maple candy smoked brine and I'm warming up the Bradley while I dry the pelicle on these babies. Mmmm it's been a while since we had a good batch of rainbows.

Haha yeah sorry for the misleading title. My wife always gives me grief for not taking enough photos. At least I took one!

The tungsten bead dark green chironomid lasted me all day without getting broken off. I've learned that checking tippet for abrasions is important after every scrappy fish or two. It's saved me losing many flies.

How does captain Golden like these ventures of yours?

Looks like the captain went for a swim.

Thanks for the pictures.

We can't keep the captain out of the water. He's all about the water no matter how cold. A few weeks ago when there was still a bit of ice left he was swimming straight through 2 inches of slush and couldn't have been happier about it.
