Moose Lake May long rumor?

I'm very anxious to start fishing and since May long weekend I have seen people fishing Moose lake (just outside of Bonnyville). My question is, is moose lake open for fishing? The regulations guide says it's closed to till June 1st and I don't see why they would have cold lake open earlier than moose lake, seeing as it is a bigger lake than Moose.
Long story short, is anyone fishing moose lake before June 1st poaching or were the stories told to me about it opening on May long correct? Or were they just fishing stories too? Thanks for reading.
