Default Best day yet

Best day yet for me. The mulie has/had great potential but his back for didnt grow and his fronts are a little thin. The matching set of wt I found about 5' apart and he is a great deer, what he lacks in tine length he makes up for main beam length.

Default Non Typical Shed Finally Found

I have been aware of this strange NT WT in the area for a couple of years but I have never seen him on the hoof. I have trail cam pictures of him growing and shedding his strange antlers. I finally picked one up a couple of days ago and see the mice have been at it already! It is quite hollow on the end that goes over his massive pedicile.

Thought the first one is unique. Wasn't really expecting, been through this spot two weeks before, but today right on the trail, few tooth marks on.

Great find antler1! that hollow end on the bottom of the antler indicates that the buck is in very poor shape. That's one of the worst ones I've seen.

Maybe, but what's really odd is the new antler growth he has already in January, looks like those bases caused the hollowing, very strange.

Based on the pictures, the buck appears to be in excellent health. I think he simply has excessively large pedicles.

I don't think the antlers are actually growing yet, that is likely just the usual post shedding scabbing and the initial growth of the ‘antlerogenic periosteum’. Of course I could be owing you a beer if we bet on this.

Very cool and unique deer Antler1, please share any more pics of this guy as he progresses this winter/spring.

When it's that recessed it is normally a growth issue and not health. But yes normally a indented pedical or a flat one is an indication of poor health

Default Sheds

I'm at 18 and counting. I'm also finding very few winter kills compared to the last few years! Next weekend should be prime time for making miles!

We arrowed a bukette like that a few years ago. Spitting image. He was in full velvet in late October. Was the size of a small horse, and upon closer inspection of the undercarriage, noticed there were no nards. Probably left them on a fence post somewheres.

Default good year

Been able to get out quite a bit this year and seemed to have timed it right. 15 so far with a surprise elk shed in there.
