Steel fire pit ring?
Anyone know where to buy a plain steel fire pit ring in the Edmonton area.
I need one for hunting camp.
Thanks.

Try using an old washing machine drum. They work great and they are light enough to carry around.

Auto wrecker in Lamont has tractor tire rims. I have one for about 12 years now, and still many years left in it.

I have a 30" piece of iron well casing that I use. It's not something you'd pack in unless you're the incredible hulk but man it holds in the heat and stays warm for a long time. If you hit a metal recycler there's a chance they'll have a section you can hack some off of.

Where are you located?
If you're around Edmonton, hit up General Scrap...I'm sure you can find something there on the cheap.
Or as others suggested, both washer drums and tractor tire rims work great. Lots of ventilation on the washer drum, and if there's a bit of a breeze you can get a pretty raging fire going

Thats exactly what we have been using for years at our camp. Works great, just cut a few air holes near the bottom around the circumference and you are set.

Culvert
Here is a picture.
It's light, easy to role around camp.
Line the inside with a bag or cardboard and fill it up with your gear to save room while traveling.
I think I have a screen cover that will fit as well.

Hi Smokey:
Where is the wrecker in Lamont located? I want to bolt down some new trap launchers.

The chunk of culvert is a great option. Need to make a few holes around the bottom for ventilation. I used a .35 whelen on myn.
The washing machine drum is an interesting idea though.
I once saw where a guy had taken the engine off an old lawn mower and bolted an old washing machine drum onto it. He had a mobile fire ring.

The guy is just South of hwy 15 west of town.
There is also Coyote near Tofield.
There is Gratton coulee off of hwy 14. Used tractor parts and other delights.
That one might be closer.
General metals won't be cheap, unless you know a guy that could swing a deal for you.
Of course if you can wait, there is auction season in the spring and I could track one down then.

try the city yards, get a manhole cover ring, it is cast iron and no one will walk away with that thing easy.
