Question Snowshoe Repair

Was out snowshoeing last week with my old wooden / web snowshoes.

Furthest distance from the parking lot I broke a binding, but was able to McGyver it back together for the trip out.

Upon closer inspection when back at the truck I noticed that some of the webbing is broke.

Anyone know of a place in Alberta or B.C. where they could be sent to be repaired or completely re-webbed ??

I don't mind the new technology, but my old wooden snowshoes get me anywhere I need to go.

Thanks for any suggestions

I'd ask a shoemaker or a saddle maker for who might be able to repair them they might be able to help

Pretty sure Faber sells repair kits if you are so inclined as to tackle it yourself. Its not something I've tried, but as hard as I am on snowshoes its something I would probably learn to do if I bought a pair of traditional shoes. Understand your sentiments on the traditional shoes, I love them, but part of the allure of snowshoes, to me, is that they can be used to travel through areas where there is often a high probability of traditional shoes sustaining damage.

Search the classifieds on the flyfishcalgary forum. There was a guy looking for old snowshoes to repair as a hobby a little while back. He can probably help you out.

Watching with interest as I have a damaged Snowshoe that has a broken slat directly under the ball of one foot.
They have been relegated to wall hanger status for the last 20 years

Omega50 I have a pair of snowshoes with no boot harness(for lack of not knowing the correct terminology) but the cat gut and frame are perfect. Yours for the taking.

I have a pair of old bear paw snowshoes that haven't been used for many years. Had some good hunts with these shoes.
I did a repair job on the mesh about 40 years ago. still looks good. I had a hide for a moose quarter and I strippped the hair off and fleshed it. I dried it thinking I may use it someday. It was as hard as 'billy be dammed'. after it dried.
I cut some lacings from it with tin snips and soaked them in warm water to soften. Did my rewebbing and when it dried, I varnished the lacing.

i've been thinking about selling them as I never use them, but with the new high teck stuff on the market, they wouldn't be worth a lot except to me.

...In the old days I used 1" cotton lamp wick for harness material. Very easy to work with and extremely serviceable. Lamp wick available in camping supply stores or maybe Crown Surplus in Calgary.

I do appreciate the offer, but my interest is in restoring some of the vestiges of my youth to pass down to my sons.

I got those shoes about the same time my cherry was popped

Early 70's

Lots of memories in that old catgut

Thanks for all the suggestions, and to the member who sent me a PM.

As I currently have quite a bit of time on my hands, I have ordered a repair kit, and will attempt to make the repairs myself.

Like the idea of the satisfaction I will get if I can do the job myself.

It was from 2016 so hopefully repaired by now! The link provided still sells the equipment to do the repair.
