I used to use the small green bottles,a friend refilled them, but I've since moved to a mini (5lb) propane tank, looks identical to a 20lb tank but smaller, with an adapter hose you can buy anywhere (got another last summer at CT for $20). Easily refillable like any BBQ tank and super convenient with no worries about over/under pressure with way more capacity than the green bottles. Cheap on classifieds sites/garage sales, or wait for the Canadian tire sales;

Holy crap! By the time you buy the tank, the hose and the cost of a purge you're over $80 just for a tank!!! Then you have to run to the gas station and get it filled four times for every one trip on a 20 lb'er.
I'd rather just use a 20 lb tank. Or the 1 lb'ers for backpacking. I don't see where that 5 lb would be of any advantage.

I have a 5 lb. tank, if your just using for a small BBQ, camp stove and a lamp lasts a long time I fill mine every two years. Gave up on the little bottles except they come in handy for the lantern on the table.

If I connect mine to a Buddy heater for ice fishing 5lbs. is enough for 3 days of fishing.
