Exclamation Fake leupold scopes

WARNING There is a guy in Kijiji Calgary selling Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14 scopes. They are China made fakes. To the normal eye it looks like a real Leupold scope. Don't be had like i did. Thought i was getting a great deal.

After reading online here are some major differences between the fakes and real ones.
1. Fake has lazer etched white or silver "L" on the side focus not the Gold L medallion.
2. Fake has on the end of the scope 4.5 X 14 X 50 Long Range does not say Leupold like the real scope does.

Do a google search and you will see lots of info on fake scopes wish i would of known this 24 hours ago...

I saw that add yesterday, took all of 2 seconds to spot it as a fake. Meant to flag the add but forgot while trying to learn the new app. Sorry to hear you got taken.

I did some quick looking into it before buying it but was worried i would miss out on a great deal jumped in with two feet forward. Learn from your mistakes i guess. Might make a good paper weight on my desk or maybe i can mount it on my daughters plastic toy gun!!

I flagged it as a scam, wait and see if kijiji follows up.

Might as well mount it on something and send a few rounds down range anyways! I don't think I'd hunt it, but some target time would be in order just to see what it's like.

I would of called the guy up and asked if he could meet for another somewhere with very few witnesses.

It has crossed my mind definitely to get another ""meeting """ with him.

As for trying out the scope might put it on a 22 and give her a try. my guess should be able to get 5 shots in a 40 inch group at 50 yards LOL. But with the lack there of 22 ammo almost seams like a waste.

Im guessing it would be fine for a 22 or something low recoil. Heck if you want to dump it cheap I would try it on .22

Any chance you could arrange to buy another with the police just around the corner?

Citizens arrest has always been on my bucket list

Found the ad, the sellers being sneaky by calling it a "Mark 4 L. Eu,pold" instead of a Leupold. The photo where one can see its awesome magnifying power down a Wal-Mart aisle is fantastic! perhaps one could see all of the people of Wal-Mart without even having to drive their scooter through the store!

I saw earlier today that a guy had a Colt 1911.45 auto listed in the Kijiji tools section complete with pics

These guys post things this way to get around the Kijiji policy of not posting firearms for sale on the site so Kijiji doesn't block it.

Unbelievable . Sorry to hear about your problem man!

Glad to see you still have a sense of humor. Wondering what your shooting results will be after trying it on your 22.

I bought one of these fake leupolds for my lakefield mk II, I knew it was fake, bought it of aliexpress for about $60, it should be a good scope for the .22, but the turrets are tall, do not lock and are easily rotated, and the turret caps are a bit wobbly, there is a few tell tail signs that they are just a knock off but the glass is much better then you'd expect for a $60 scope, hence why folks seem to be getting ripped on them.

The thing was that the ad had the sellers complete home address in it rather than just a postal code. I messaged the advertiser that doing so wasn't exactly the ideal home security plan due to it possibly attracting thieves. I could care less about him violating Kijiji's no firearms ads policy. The guy messaged back asking where I lived, it was presented rather oddly. The ad seemed well written and contained detailed info, his response to the PM didn't match the writing style of the ad. Maybe yet another scammer....?

The sks or the scope? What mounts you using?

The scope. Could have been the cheap rings it came with but after all it was an sks and wasn't worth it to put anymore money into it.

Here is the rail I used
