NHL Rant
Should referee's be suspended without pay for making the wrong calls when it comes to suspensions.
Hit to the head ad ref gives him 2 min and the next day the league suspends the same player for a game or two...

Much easier to make the right call with time to review. On the fly, with so much going on, it's easy to see how a wrong call can get made...

So then why do the players have to deal with next day suspensions?
Just saying

Question was answered. Easy to say that with high angle slo mo replay. Ever sat first row at an NHL game? There are 16 men on that tiny sheet of ice. It moves so incredibly fast it's hard to make that call. I'm glad they get it right the day after.

And on occasions no penalty is called, and suspension comes later.
Refs don't give out suspensions gramps.
But Ya, refs don't see it all.

Absolutely not. It's the fastest game on earth and even the best refs can't get every call right. As previously mentioned, refs don't get the benefit of multiple replays and angles. Handing out suspensions isn't in their realm anyway.

You answered your own question, the referee does not suspend players, the league does. Any hits to the head are reviewed penalty or not by the league and if warranted a suspension/fine is handed down.
Ever been to a game? Fastest game on earth. Mistakes happen.

Good system
Some nights when the refs are interfering with the game
I just shut it off . Upon review is a good system .....players
Know dirty will be punished ....albeit some are slow learners .
3 refs and they can't see it all .....I don't think the game has ever
Been better or safer or quicker .....and really the refs never wrong
....
I think the night they changed their mind , can't remember the exact details
But it was earth shattering .
And. Thank a god for The Hockey News

Ice level is a blurr at the best of time, can't see it all but the eye in the sky can which now has eliminated a lot of the chicken poop hockey players who know the consequences. Officials also do not know if the player is a repeat offender etc that is handled by the NHL sheriff.

Although they aren't abouve reproach, I think they have a tough job as it can be a damed if you do, damed if you don't thing. Out of curiosity, I wonder how much refs make in the NHL?

During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, USA Today reported a base salary range for NHL referees of $110,000-$255,000 and $72,000-$162,000 for linesmen.
