Wouldn't have just sat there like that. I didn't watch the whole thing but he was lucky he didn't get an antler point in the face or eye.

I've had moose up that close, it is unnerving, looking up at them. You think there is no way it will come that close, but, they did. That is about the time you start questioning your sanity.

Default it's been euthanized.

According to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGQExgOxZMQ he really was an innocent bystander.

The elk has been euthanized due to a pattern of aggressive behaviour brought about by park visitors feeding him from their cars.

Read the statement under the video.

Thanks for the updated link. I read the comments & watched the vid again. And so here's my problem.

Twice ( 2.14 thru 2.18) he composes and shoots then chimps away (makin sure he got the shot). Again @ 3.47 thru 3.55 he has the presence of mind to shoot & chimp his lcd again. Then (minute 5.00 thru 5.49) he spooks young Elk getting some distance between them & walks (slowly away) steps into Honda SUV (which at that point is relatively close to other cover prior to the Honda showing up).

At 6.10 the SUV honks, approaches & Bull spooks back from the tripod & bag, guy then gets out of SUV (as the Bull is right back directly over photo gear) & precisely then photog elects to repatriate his equipment!

Sorry but that young Bull was euthanized owing to cumulative habituation & the photographer had a hand in it.
