Default Bull Moose in Prairie

My dad was on his way to work south of Bow Island and saw a bull moose. No pictures unfortunately. What are there patterns like? Why would he even be out there?

Until not too too long ago you would have had a pretty tough time finding moose or elk in wmu 232. Ive even heard the old boys say how at one time geese were pretty scarce and ducks were the targets of choice. Seems certain animals have concrete "native habitat", but every so often they begin to branch out for whatever reason and establish smaller herds in non native wmus.

Personally i love it!

Here's a picture of one that I spotted near the Weir Bridge over the Milk River, have spotted others further north of there.

I've seen a few moose in the Oldman River valley north of Monarch. In fact, on Sunday morning there was a bull and cow that looked like they were going to stick around for a while.

Back when I was in my early teens, we had a bull moose make it's way through the middle of Taber, right behind my house. F&W tranq'd it and loaded it into our stock trailer and we hauled it out to the Porkies to release.

Seem to be that they like to travel.

There's a few moose south of bow island that just seem to hang around. Last year there was a guy charged for poaching a couple of them out there, but ya there's getting to be more and more.

See them all over the southern prairies. 15 years ago there were very few. I think the preditors are driving them out of the bush.

Shot over a 5x5 elk, passed on shots on two different bull Moose in 232 in the last 48 hrs. I don't mind one bit. (just wish that them elk would jump up to catch your arrow for ya)

You can count on seeing Moose South of us, around the corner store, North of Vulcan
The one that gets me is we have a heard of Elk here. We saw a cow and calf on Sunday. My wife saw 2 bulls yesterday, and neighbours report a herd of just under 30 cows over here in the Buffalo Hills. Thats pretty unreal for this country.

I have seen them around Bow Island for years. they come and go. There are lots south of the hat around the cypress hills, lodge creek, and the peigan creek.
