Default Maybe Alberta can learn a thing or two, or three?

Here in Texas again and was asked to fill out this survey. I'm actually surprised that they ask the hunters what they think before actually going out and making silly regulations. These responses are actually taken into consideration and most of the time changed in favour of the hunters. They do this with fishing as well, they don't do it like the walleye surveys in Alberta haha.

Have a looksy if y'all want :https://tpwd.texas.gov/business/feed...ame_bird.phtml

Did you even look at the link haha. It's biologists who actually said that their studies show that the daily bag limit can be increased and they are asking hunters if it is a good idea.

Now that isn't very nice. But luckily one angry mans opinion won't make a difference.

Default There is a defining difference !

Texas is a State in a fully Democratic country ..

Alberta is a province in a quasi socialist Dominion .

As far as I can see rarely is anything done in any area
Of resource management that benefits the user or taxpayer .
In case one hasn't been paying attention, Hunters and Fishers
are asked all the time by biologists what they think should be done .
Then promptly ignored . It's Canada ,we are all about revenue and
limited expenditure .
New motto I suggest " Poaching ....Its our Game "

I agree with your first point but

I think its easier to influence/corrupt/buy a smaller group of people than it is a large one

You actually think the biologists in Alberta are on top of their game? The optional harvest survey here in Alberta is absolutely useless. There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to wildlife management in this province.

While some may think there might be room for improvement I would say that the wildlife management in Alberta is ever evolving. The game laws have been around and "improving" for over a hundred years.

First was the game management era. From 1906 to 1970

Second was the wildlife management era. From 1970 to 1980

The third is the wildlife sustainability era. From 1980 to present.

I suggest anyone interested in the evolution of wildlife laws in Canada read chapter 6.1 in this document . It talks about Alberta's game laws since 1906. Chapter 5 explains the three eras or stages.

https://dspace.ucalgary.ca/bitstream...D4D?sequence=1

I think the fourth era may have started recently. The people management era.
