This lools like it would be a fun one but I don’t understand why a Canadian based company would be charging Canadians USD for a Canadian hunt? This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Outfitters charge in USD because it’s the universally recognized currency in the hunting world, it makes it simple.

If you want to pay in Canadian funds I’m sure the guy advertising hunts will have no issue with it. Just take the $20K price tag plus extras and convert at todays exchange rate, you’re all set 👍

Price listings in US$ is common practice

Not quite true, wait till our dollar is higher than the USD and watch them charge Canadian dollars.

I suppose one could always just inquire about that with him. I had asked a few outfitters for stone and dall and all said the price is the price basically so was just under the assumption they all operated this way.

The price is the price, you’re not going to get a deal because you’re Canadian.

You could always bank on another worldwide disaster and hope a bunch of outfitters are starving to death?

I’ll rephrase that for you. Out of the 175 countries or so around the world where you can book a hunt 95% of them operate in USD to simplify the process.
I’m sure however if you truly wanted to you could book a stone sheep hunt and pay in Yen if it made you feel better.

100% wrong

X2...i remember back about 12 years ago the CAD was worth more than the green back and suddenly items in canada that were in US funds quickly changed to CAD overnight...NIB guns were nice and cheap them months but still didnt go lower than they should have though....

I’ve gotten lucky because I was available on short notice, or the US economy was in the tank, but all things being equal I’ve never got a deal over a foreign client simply because I live in the same country as the outfitter.
I’m not sure why any outfitter would purposely choose to lose net revenue

Some guys are just lucky I guess!

Some outfitters do it
If it’s a quota animal like a stone sheep, might not get much of a deal
But some outfitter’s definitely give you a deal if your Canadian

Great video! Such a beautiful animal. We encountered a few muskox during our caribou hunt in Alaska. At first I thought it was a bear walking towards me cause I had never seen a muskox in the wild before.
