CONGRATULATIONS! Why aren't all women this understanding when it comes to hunting? So I guess you're the REAL guy to ask - whats the best caliber for the 1 gun hunter? haha... Great story and good luck on the world slam!

I hunt the world with my model 70 Winchester 30-06 that dad bought me when I was 18 years old, put a Leopoldo 3.5x10x40 Boone and Crocker scope on the old girl and am very comfortable to 400, some people know this old girl as ( Ol meat in the pot) haha, good luck everyone this seasons and be safe

That is very cool to hear for me! I have that exact same set up with a similar origin. Bought it when I was a kid to hunt moose. One of my buddies gives me a hard time about it and says why don't you just use...( whatever the caliber, currently 30-378.)
I have since caved and bought a 7mm in a sako 85, which I know isn't too much different. And wouldn't you know it, that 30-06 is still dropping game..plus my hearing is still pretty good!
Congrats on your slam! I love your story. When I hear about most guys slams it doesn't even peak my interest, but yours is doing it the the way I'd be proud to do it!

Doing the same type of thing with a 270 my old man gave me as a kid, upgraded the scope on it but its my one and only big game rifle.

Looking at Pats slam pics it looks like "oh that isn't to bad just four sheep four bears etc..." but it would be a real concerted effort to achieve for sure! I want to just do the moose slam and the sheep slam and I am finding that to be quite a challenge! I am going to try and get the Super 10 one day though. I think that is doable for me as most ofthe species we can get in AB.

Default mouflon ram

Well I was able to harvest a beautiful Mouflon ram on the island of Lanai a couple weeks ago, this ram is deffinitly not the biggest Mouflon ram alive but it was a awesome hunt and wicked stalk to get within 250 yards of him.
The Mouflon ram is one of the smallest sheep in the world and has gorgeous coloring on them.

After 10 days in tajikastan I finally made it back and I was able to harvest a great Marco Polo ram there.
This hunt had everything it could throw at me including a night on the mountain in -25 Weather

I shot my ram near dark in the worst blizzard my outfitter has seen in 15 years in this area, while we attended to our ram the vehicle froze up and wouldn't start to take is back to camp which was 20 miles from where we were so we stayed in the Mountian for as long as we could but the decision was made to descent from 16000 feet down to 13000 feet to try to find a sheep herders hut to cut the wind.
The Tajik guides found some yak dung and started a fire and finally we seen lights off in the distance and I knew I was going to be ok but defdirnly scared me
My outfitter has bad frost bite on his face and my fingers are feeling like I might get the tingling gone from them .
Anywua if here is ever a ram worth saving up for and for the experience it is he Marco Polo ram for aure, and at he age of 39 I'm glad I did it now
