Default Utikuma on Fire

Lord thundering jesus! Absolute mayhem. Arrived at the lake around 9am fired up the ol' jiffy and look out. Put down the five of diamonds and within 1 hour 3 of us had our limit of walleye. Not the slugs we were catching last year, but nice walleye non the less. Ice around 16", no problem with the Ford. Well worth the trip up.

regards.

I guess the reports of a major winter kill last year were not 100% acurate. I am hoping to get out there this year, but it's a long drive from Edmonton. Is there any place where a guy could setup a canvas tent with a stove to stay a couple of days? Even better.....hotel somewhere near there?

my brother was up there the other day and said it was a blast. I wish I had more time I would love to give that one a whirl.

I've been there twice and have been skunked both
times. what area of the lake were you fishing?
we always fish straight out from the access out to the first major island
and kind-of all around it, but like I said nadda!!!

Good for you Pilsner Man,

That's good to hear because most of the reports I have heard have been pretty poor and a few friends of mine that have fished there this year say it's decimated. Glad to hear you/your buddies smacked 'em and so fast too! Must have drilled right on top of them, WTG!

Anybody else out there having any success with the walleye at Utikima this winter?

Cheers,

Ayr.

Default Camping @ Utikama

I've seen guys set up the walltent right on the shore of the island and stay for 3 days a few years back.

We have not been there for 2 years now, but on one trip, I hammered 75 walleys, only 1 was legal all the rest were just under - what a blast-especially my buddy never caught a single one, maybe a burbot.

We had other people come around us to try, but they never caught one either. Must of been my day I guess.

For access to the lake, turn off SH750 at the store and go a few miles. The area will open up to a field, cut across the road allowance to the lake.
