Default P.Dogs and BC residents: license req'd?

I checked this site's link to Alberta hunting regs - twice - and still not 100% sure what the licensing requirements are, if any, for British Columbia residents wanting to harvest Prairie Dogs.

Since the regs don't mention Prairie Dogs/gophers, I've concluded that a licence or WIN # is not required. Only thing is to get landowner's permission, and have POL/PAL.

Other Q: Is there such a thing as a general hunting license in AB, say for rabbits, grouse, coyote and such? I see that coyote and upland birds are shown as "game species", but rabbits and PDs are not.

What say you?

There are no Prairie Dogs in Alberta. Many people call ground squirrels, "gophers" and shoot them without any kind of licence. (non residents can too) Rabbits (or hares) can also be hunted without a licence.

Coyotes and any game birds or animals require a licence for non residents.

The guide to hunting regulations pretty well outlines it all. It is sometimes a little hard to read and find the information you want but it is there.
