Default Medicine Hat Cops

So me and a fishing buddy go down to the Hat yesterday to catch some minnows by the powerplant outflow. We had done one pass with the sein and caught a few minnows. When we looked up 2 of Medicine Hats finest were standing there. Now since the flood it's quite a hike to get down there and there isnt really any way they could have seen us. Somebody must have called them as soon as we got there. No biggie. They asked alot of questions and checked our ID's, size of sein etc. Then one asked if we were the guys illegally netting in the Strathcona area the day before, which we were not. Then they politelyy wished us luck and left.

Just wondering whats going on down there? They were on us like white on rice.

Anyhow, have a nice batch of bait for the fall fishing season.

They probably got a briefing about the strathcona incident before shift and were keeping an eye out.

Taking a break from the speed trap they regularly set up on the Trans Canada bridge construction zone ??

Also of note, if anyone is passing through the Hat on the Trans Can, SLOW DOWN in the construction zone on the east side of town where they are building the new (Dunmore Road) overpass. It has been an absolute gold mine for the local constabulary.

Hmmm, I have not heard of this. Glad they are on the lookout though. I drive through Cona almost every Morning and have seen nothing odd happening. They musta been netting the creek...which to be honest...I did not know was illegal. Is it because its in a park?
U can see the riv by power plant as clear as day as u drive across bridge so coulda been anyone who "reported" you. I'm glad they questioned you, and I'm glad they left u alone afterwards. Just doing their job.

That outflow used to be a blast when I was younger. Jump from the top into the warm stinky water below....so fun. But....don't try it nowadays, the landing spot has tons of broken bottles in there. We learned this the hard way.

Cheers

We have one of the highest paid police forces in Canada.....
Some would say overpaid
Never heard anything bout illegal netting but not surprising they had time on their hands to check it out....
Gotta wonder just what they would know boutsize of net etc....

They might be fishermen too.

Many LEO's like hunting and/or fishing.
