WOW you had that much spare time:lol to make that box looks good maybe you could get a wire mess or a bbq Grill part to sit on top for cooking .

Re: Spare Time
I have never had a fire on the ice. And was going to a while back, but never did.
I never knew you couldn't...see it all the time. GLad I don't just follow the crowd.
Is it provincial fire regs or something?
That thing does look sweet...you make some jazzed out stuff lethal!!

Re: Spare Time
Thanks Ryan, yah i think its illegal cause the ashes and burnt wood are toxic or something like that too the fish or something along those lines, thats why they dont allow it but this way i can have a fire then the next day when the ashes are all cold and dead when we leave just dump it in the bush on the way out.

Re: Spare Time
You should install a side door so you don't have to load the wood from the top once you get it roaring. Unless of course you like the smell of burnt hair:rollin

Re: Spare Time
I've never heard its illegal to have a fire on the ice. Any ideas where it says that? I've only done it once with no problems but if its illegal i'll refrain from doing it again. I have a cut off drum for a firepit in the future, not as fancy as lethals .

Re: Re: Spare Time
There used to be something in the regulations about "littering on the ice" but I cannot find anything about it in the 2007 guide to sportfishing regulations.

Re: Re: Spare Time
Well i decided to go out and give it a try today out on the ice, really didnt need it too stay warm but figured we could cook some lunch while i was testing it out, and it worked fantastically, just the way i had planned it too and it didnt take too long to cool down either since its a thinner gauge metal so all in all the test was a success.
