Been doing this for a couple decades now and I have never had to replace my lenses for any other reason then I want a new style of frames. Just bought a new set last month and my old lenses were 4 years old and my optometrist was amazed that the lenses still looked virtually new.
Never wipe you lenses and they will not scratch...

Same method
Plus I wear my glasses in the pool when I swim, wear them when I shower even when I sleep
No issues
My current script is 7 yrs old I get my eyes checked regularly still no changes
The docs are impressed with the condition of this pair of glasses
