Default Colin Lake

Hi All

Myself and 6 buddies have booked a week at Colin Lake with Mikisew forthe first week of August. All of us are new to Canada and are saltwater boys.

Any advice as to where to fish and what sort of presentation. Downriggers etc are out as we can't afford them at this stage in our lives. Discussions with guys at work point to Len Thompson 5 Diamonds red on yellow #2 lures trolled slowly of the drop off between the islands.

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Poormans Down rigger

August you may find the lakers a little deep try back trolling with a 3 oz weight and a three way swivel run a floating or neutral boyant shallow or surface crank about 6' back on the slow troll jointed will give better action Rapala are my fav! I usually drop my weight 24 to 36 inches below and run a lighter test to the weight if it sags bottom you only loose the weight. Hope that is a clear enough it will get you down deep if you have heavy gear run a six ounce weight no matter what you need a fairly stout rod. JMO

you will get results and can set your depth using your fish finder on the slow troll to target the fish at holding depth.

Oh my thats in the bush a little ways ain't it... I don't think it would matter what you put in the water there I think they will bite,, Better wear a swimming suit if you go for a dip

I would think taking a few of the basic spoons in different sizes would take care of your needs.. Plus the lodge will have a supply of hooks needed and they will know whats hot..

Looks like a heck of a place to be for a couple days.. I would be more worried about what type of bug repellent to take as to what kind of hooks.. Welcome to the north
