Default 2010 Hunting Season Recap (Pics)

2010 is a hunting season that will rank as my best season ever not so much for the quantity of game or time in the field but the memories that will last a life time.

My season started Sept 17th hunting in the mountain for bull elk. I was hunting with my brother and a great friend. Opening morning was brisk and we 15 minutes into our morning we were greeted by a bugle and one of the most incredible bull elk I had ever seen hunting. Uunfortunately, he was only a 5x5 as we were hunting in a 6pt zone. It was a great first day and got our group spirits up but unfortunately I had to head home early to deal with a family issue.

We headed back out to the same area for Thanksgiving. This time we had added a couple more friends to come along. Again, we saw bull elk but could not find a 6pt. What we also saw lots of this weekend were grizzlies bears. Over the weekend we saw 6 different bears. This included a sow with 2 cubs that I had charge me!! It finally turned around after a shot in front of her at about 15 yards. The picture of the grizzly is a huge boar that we saw the next morning. Honestly the pictures do not do this bear justice. He was an absolute machine!

Next time out for me was November 1st. I had finally drawn a bull moose tag that I had been waiting 10 years for. This time out I had my dad,my brother, my adopted dad, and 3 really good friends. This day will go down as my best hunting day ever. My dad is 74 years old and he had not hunted the last 4 years but agreed to come along as he had hunted moose but never able to shoot a bull. He had shot cows and calves but no bull. I was lucky enough to see the bull I wanted early in the afternoon of the first day and connected. As I saw him fall over I let out a huge yell of excitement and the next thing I did was ball like a baby. I knew that this day I would share this memory with some of the most important people of my life. My dad who got us into hunting, my brother who is my best friend, my adopted dad, and 3 great friends that are like brothers to me.

Enjoy all the pics and thanks for letting me share

Tony

Beautiful Moose! sounds like that was a bag full of fun... when a person waits 10 years for a moose tag it sure is a special moment. Congrats!!
