Default My 2010 rifle mule buck..

Here is some pics of my mule buck I killed this year. Not the giant that we were looking for but still a very respectable buck.We headed down to buckbrush country this year as we are still waiting for the North country to recover from its bad winters and drought. My brother and I hunted the first 10 days of the season as well as spent some days in Oct scouting. We were hampered by warm weather, lots of hunting pressure as well as spooky deer and very little movement. We hiked 8-10 km's a day and seen 100s of bucks but just could not find the next class up.Lots of bucks in the 160-170s but we set are goal at 180 so we held off the trigger. One of the best bucks I found while scouting was a real wide one but he was real spooky so i was unsure how big he really was. One morning towards the end of the first part of our hunt we managed to get the wide guy in the spotting scope and we decided that he was pushing 30inch wide and that if we had a chance one of us would take him.We bedded him down in a small chunk of bush and let him nap for a few hours before we stalked in after him. Once we crested the hill and spotted the bedding spot my brother took the right side and I took the left.I was still a 100 yrds from the middle of the bush where the buck was bedded when he exploded out and started to leave the country in a hurry.I double checked to make sure it was the right buck and at 196 yrds i dropped him in his tracks.I had reloaded incase the buck got out so when a coyote run out of the same bush I shot it to lol When we walked up to the buck I was really shocked at the size of the frame and the buck looked even bigger up close. This is the 3rd largest buck that we seen on the trip so I am happy i was able to get it.It would have grossed in the 180s but its main beams were much shorter then its inside spread so it get dropped back into the 170s..

My buck has a 29 1/2 inside spread and is 31 1/2 outside..

Live SHot

My brother hunted right until the last day and although he had chances at a couple great bucks it just wasnt to be..

Thx to Bearbuster and Shedcrazy for their tips and help on the hunt..

Great deer and you guys put in the time/work for him... Not many hunters in Alberta can say they killed a 30inch mule buck! Congrats.
