Default My Big Bull Elk 2010

Just dreaming.
A wild Minnesota Bull making the email circuit.

Quote:
Its green score is 456 4/8 NT net. Its gross score is 475 5/8. He has 78 6/8" of mass. He is a wild MN elk that flipped upside down jumping a barbed wire fence on state land in Northern MN. His antlers stuck in the ground and been there a couple of hours. Ryan Muirhead found him while muzzleloader hunting , he got help to flip him back, and the elk walked away. It was 25 below wind chill at this time. Two days later he went to see if it made it, but found it 600 yards away still alive. It died shortly later and was given to the Game warden who a week later gave it back to him.

Wow that's a dandy.
WB, you are lucky it wasnt your bull. Otherwise you would have been lynched for shooting back to back monster bulls.

The rack would still be cut with the skullplate if it was being full body mounted....same as with a shoulder mount.

As James_M posted, the cutting of the skull is no different for a shoulder mount or a full-body mount.

I grew up less then 20 miles from the spot this bull was found. I still hunt up there every year. Its a great area, plenty of cover, right amount of farmland, swamps and heavy cover. Theres a herd of Elk in the area that number around 45-50 animals. The State has a very limited once in a life time hunt based on a lottery draw. Each year approximatley 3 bull tags are issued and around 10 cow tags. We're certainly never going to be known as an Elk State, but our biggest registered bull goes 378 typical and we have several over 360 recorded. The farmers in this area also have a stash of giant sheds laying around as well. I also have a few pics of this bull while tangled in the fence. The whole ordeal with the fence was also video taped. And just for the skeptics, this is the real deal. My family knows the people involved, I know and have personally spoken with the Game Warden involved, and a good friend of mine measured it for B&C. Im sure as these pics circulate the net, the location/state/province will change also.
