Not too bad for not having a boat

That’s actually a decent size greenling

Nice video, enjoyed it quite a bit. While I own a boat and several canoes, I do take a certain amount of pride in being able to catch fish from shore throughout much of the open water season. I can understand how hardcore surf fishermen get to the point where they feel that fish caught from a boat don't really count.

Awesome! Makes me want to go back to the island and do some fishing! This used to be all I did when I lived out there. Slow retrieved zingers and buzz bombs were amazing for this style of fishing.

Really cool. My kind of fishing - something a bit different, isolated, and adventuring around a bit

Yes, great video. That looks like fun. I didn't know about the breakwater pier so thanks for bringing this up too!

Does that ever bring back memories for me. Back in the early 80's I was a young soldier at Work Point Barracks in Esquimalt. Me and a friend used to go fishing off the break water using old spark plugs and tube worms we would pick off the pier on the base. Great fun sitting on a lawn chair soaking up the fun. Thanks for posting.

Last fish was a greenling. Two types to catch. Keep and Rock greenling. Different colours for males and females. Related to lingcod.

Was out there last September. Fishing was good, had to watch out for the seals that kept trying to grab your catch
