THIS! Like every other subject has to be over complicated.

Someone needs to build a flow chart to make it easier to figure out if you can go on someones land...

Cat
They had permission to be there and were not trespassing, it was some kind of charity ride or something. Unfortunately if a landowner allows permission he potentially could be held responsible if something happens to someone on his property and is far more liable to be sued successfully than to be sued by a trespasser who isn't allowed on and is not supposed to be there at all.

The fact that this thread has made it to 4 pages says so much about the current state of attitudes surrounding private property and following rules/laws.

Private property means private property. No trespassing means no trespassing. How is this even a discussion?

If someone is cutting locks off, and you can prove its them, then absoluletly nail them to the cross! That is complete disrespect.

Because many feel it is a privilege to take advantage of someone else's stuff and if caught they can always say sorry because there will be no harsh consequences dealt out immediately....too bad

Now if this trail rider fella faced immediate loss of horses, tack etc and a hefty say $10,000 fine he would not have mossied on down private property with his clan in tow....

Giddy up grass nag

Post a sign saying new owners! All previous land access permission is no longer valid! Even if you are not new owners. Better yet post pictures on the entry of the trespassers.

You maybe surprised at the result
You got that right I've had land for 12 years private Bush quarter where the locals just think they can come and go go figure

You have to understand the Hillbilly rural local mentality. They assume their great gramps and every body since has hunted that land and they belive it is their right to continue. Somebody from away buys some land there and posts it the locals get offended often very spiteful. Soon as the signs go up they are more determined than ever to hunt it out of spite. Catch them and confronting them often tends really peave them off, fences start to get cut, diesel gets stolen, tires go flat, water in gas tanks, things go missing etc etc, can turn into the Hatfield's and Mcoy's. If they have the urge to hunt it they will and outside of monitoring the boundaries 24 -7 you will not stop them.

They know when and where you and the wife works, how many dogs you have, know when your home and when your not, know all the ways in and out, know where the big bucks cross, feed and bed, where the moose hang out. They know your land better than you do. Sucks but thats just how it is in a lot of cases.

So private landowners just need to ‘grow up a bit’ and simply tolerate law breaking trespassers? You can’t be for real, are you 12?

Wow I can`t believe this thread is this long.
They were trespassing on private posted land.
End of story, OP was asking anyone knew who these law breakers were.
End of story.
Sorry to hear of your issue OP, I have had the same issue, and have no clue what goes threw these morons heads.
Hope they get caught and charged.

You could print these pics onto poster boards and hang at entrance or on path, with a sign that says NO TRESSPASSING - THIS MEANS YOU!

My buddy also ordered some signs from the US simply stating TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT.......hahaha...not 'could be shot' or 'may be shot' but 'WILL BE SHOT'

Obviously he knows he cant just shoot at them and never would, but what would you do if you saw that sign? Would you take the risk and enter? I sure as heck would think twice.

This is the first thing I noticed too......can someone enhance or enlarge the writing on the guys shirt? If its a trail-riding company I'll bet that'll be its logo.

From a quick google its seems the Mecca Basketball sweater seems to be from Mecca Glen school in Ponoka

I'd leave the kids out of it, but at least you have an idea of where they are from
