Default Looking for a flasher camera combo or a decent camera.

Looking for opinions here, looking for a flasher camera combo, I currently have a Vexilar fishpone but I find my phone dies too fast and I lost a Samsung Galaxy through the ice last winter on Badger and I'm still pretty choked about that. If not a combo just a good camera. Been eyeing the lx9 and fish scout dual vision from Vexilar

Someone already mentioned this and it made me glad I went with 2 separate units is that if one go's down you don't lose the whole unit for warrenty work.

I run a LX7 & aqua-view AV360. I picked up the camera $75 in mint condition off here.

100% agree.

For the price of a combination unit you can get a top of the line camera and an excellent flasher and still have enough cabbage left over to buy some tackle.

AND

No worries about having to send your unit off for repair and not having anything to fall back on.

How much you willing to spend. I spent 500 on an lx5 by marcum 5 years ago and apart from having to replace batteries it's been awesome. I bought an aqua view last winter and I like it but I have nothing to compare it to as all my fishing buddy's are still fishing in the stone age. Time will tell how it fairs. I will say this though and take it with a grain of salt, the guy at the fishing hole recommended the cheaper aqua view over the marcum (which I was dead set in buying) due to the aqua view (at least that model) not ever to his knowledge ever coming in for warrenty work. Like I said take that with a grain of salt. Sign up to iceshanty if you haven't already. There's a ton of info on flashers. Good luck on the search.

I also have Marcum LX-9 and really like it too.

For those that want separate units:

Marcum LX-7 - $989.95 at the Fishin Hole. Top end finder

Marcum VS825SD -$999.95 at the Fishin Hole. Best Camera out there.

=$2090 ish

So Less money and less weight.

That said I do have a Marcum VS825SD and other sonars to use.

I guess asking what you plan on doing for fishing is required also ie if you plan on fishing Lakers really deep. Because if so you might want a dual beam flasher which I think wouldn't leave very much money for a camera. That said you don't need a dual beam flasher. If I were you and only had money for one though I would be buying the best flasher I could and waiting to buy the camera. Hope this helps.

Not sure if Marcum is still doing it, but if you went with a new Marcum LX-7 you could have it upgraded to LX-9 at a later date(requires sending your unit in). If they are still doing it. So initial cost is about $900.00 then do the upgrade for 600 or 700 or what ever it costs now(think it was 600 a year or so ago- more now that US dollar is up).

Definitely plan on going for Lakers this year. I don't know maybe sticking it out with my camera I have now and getting a flasher is the way to go, just scared of losing another phone haha

You and me both... bought a hummingbird ice 35 for a gift for my godmother yesterday and a clam nanook thermal flip shelter for myself also. Looks like I'm eating beans for the next month

If I was getting one it would probably be the Marcum RT-9. I have been waiting for 3 years for this to actually make it to market though. (Of course the Canadian dollar has dropped and now it is very expensive)

At least it's an all 3 or 4 in one. No need to lug around multiple machines.
ie it has sonar, camera, and GPS all in one unit. I like to move around when ice fishing so don't carry multiple electronics.

If I was one to just put up a shelter and sit put I would just get an additional camera to use beside my current sonar.

Good luck in your quest.
