What were you charged with? Different lawyers specialize in different things.

Pay the fine(s), learn your lesson, and move on. Maybe next time you will familiarize yourself with the regulations before heading out fishing again.

This^^^, your not going to jail and you might as well take your punishment like a man. Using a lawyer will probably end up costing more than the fine anyways. And if the fine is more then using a "lawyor" you probably did something that warranted that.

Maybe if you mention what the charge was and how much the fine is you can get some help right here for free?

Go to court and speak a different language while on the stand. Chances are the judge can't understand you and will give you the "ignorance and inability to read the law" sentence. It seems that "non English" speaking immigrants get more than the benefit of the doubt.

What's sad is that this could be a legitimate post by someone. Trolls on this site have ruined it for anyone with a low post count or weak written communication skills.

So everyone that's ever been charged with an offense has been guilty- maybe familiarize yourself with the presumption of innocence before you start pontificating

Fish and game doesn't work quite like other law enforcement agencies in that regard they don't charge unless they have proof from every instance I've ever seen.

Swede, doo you feel better for using big boy words and taking some form of moral high ground??

X2...I agree....and too many trolls who can`t comprehend English and jump to conclusions. All the op stated was that he would like to TALK to a lawyer for advice. What he heck is wrong with that? We do not know the circumstances that led to him being charged. Innocent until proven or admitting guilt.

Assuming this is a real post and depending what actually happened I would go to your court date well dressed to show the judge you are taking this seriously. Be there early so you can talk with the duty council ( essentially they are a free lawyer provided by the courts) so they can advise you on your rights.
If you really did something the best bet is to own up to your mistake, explain the situation but most importantly show remorse. If there was some sort of confusion that caused the incident such as poor wording in the regulation, ect. explain it to the judge and council. Most likely if you show respect for the legal system the crown prosecutor will agree to accept a plea deal in exchange for your guilty plea.
