Default Question regarding Genesee Gun Range

Hey guys,

Quick question about the Genesee Gun Range. I looked at their Calendar per month, and it looks like the majority of the gun range is not even available for use during a weekend. Is it even possible for a person like me to shoot at the range with all these competitions and classes occurring at the weekend?

This is the list of activities during month of April:
08 – Service Rifle – 11:00 – Range #1 – CHAS Rules
09 – General Meeting – 19:00 – Kingsway Legion
11 – Cowboy Action Practice – 16:00 – Range #3
15 – Cowboy Action Match – Range #3
18 – Cowboy Action Practice – 16:00 – Range #3
21 – 3-Gun – 08:00 to 17:00 – Ranges #1, #3, #5
22 – Learn2Shoot Canada – Rifle – 11:00 to 17:00 – Range #1
25 – Cowboy Action Practice – 16:00 – Range #3
29 – Women’s League – 11:00 – 15:00 – Range #2

This does seem to be a problem with some larger ranges. Often they derive income from range rentals or seem quite happy to schedule multiple special events for member groups on the weekends.

The problem is that for those who work a 5 day Monday to Friday week, it means that they can't shoot at all.

Hopefully, these events only occupy a few weeks each year.

I have no idea about CHAS.
There were many similar concerns voiced when Spruce Grove Gun Club was open ...ie: special interest groups/competitions interfering with weekend range use. It was a question I was asked numerous times by former SGGC members shifting over to SPFGA where we esssentially do not hold weekend competitions or book out to special interest groups/disciplines.

And I don't see any bookings for the Tactical shooters, EPS and RCMP that used to take up much of the time at Spruce Grove. Hopefully they have found somewhere else to shoot other than Genesee otherwise Chas are going to have some hard decisions to make. Perhaps they will have to cap membership which I think others are doing.

Default Range use

Sometimes when there are certain events at a range, the event only uses a one or two of the ranges, not usually the whole range is dedicated to the event..FS

The Service Rifle league usually only takes up part of the range. So one can shoot while a match is going on put up your targets between relays.

The best way to get the answer would be to email the range itself. I have a membership with CHAS and have sent them emails before. They are pretty good at getting back to you quickly.
