Bird Eggs on and under water?
Hey all so I went out fishing today and found a couple eggs one was on a pile of sticks (very poor quality nest if that’s what it was )and out of the water about the size of a chicken egg and about ten feet away I found another much larger egg sitting on the bottom of the lake in the shallows and no nest anywhere in sight. Anyone have any insight on these eggs?
Cheers!

Those birds just weren't ready for a family yet.

Photo #2 could possibly be the nest of a Red-necked Grebe.

It's about a nest and not the eggs. Not by the water but at my house. I watched 2 Robins work frantically for at least 4 days building a nest on my deck lights against the house. They did an awesome job. Then day 5 or 6 they never came back. One or both might have hit their demise. Got an empty nest with no eggs. Think I will post a rent for free sign on the nest. Was kinda looking forward to watch the hatching and growth. Probably gonna take it down.

Leave it up. The female is probably waiting for the eggs to develop.

Some times an egg will stick to the feathers while drying & fall off later.

I donno why I didn't notice this earlier but the egg that is drowning in the water is obviously an NDP egg and the one with the flimsy platform barely trying to stay afloat is a UPC egg

Well I'm sure the NDP drowning egg will be saved by the Leeberal voters. As far as the UCP that one will probably wash away with the first promised wave. Looks like the Green is in

Sad how every single thread now declines into political stupidity.

All the Grebes make similar nests and their eggs look alot alike.
I wouldn't hazard a guess without seeing a grebe close to the nest.

Female Baltimore Oriole taking a piece of string off my front step rail for her nest building.
So far I have a pair of Flickers, Tree Swallows, a pair of Phoebes and a Baltimore Oriole pair nesting in my yard, that I know about.
There may be a Goldeneye duck nesting here too, they have nested in my yard every year that I've been here, but I haven't seen them yet.
Which isn't unusual. They only show just before dark.
There is usually a pair of Clay Colored Sparrows here too but I haven't seen them either, this year.

Robin made a nest on top of the light beside the side door of the garage. We use the door to let the dog out on to the side of the house to do her business. Needless to say, we had to change our routine and let the dog out another door. We now have baby birds and should be flying off in about 2 weeks.
