I had an ez steer from octopus(canada pacific metals). That unit never worked for more than 1 season. Every year from 07-2010 it burnt out . The company did fix it twice., but that doesn't help when your fishing and can't use it.

I switched to the panther "Panther Electro Steer Remote Kicker Steering" and got rid of that one . Simply a poor design .

Switched to "Panther T4 Through Tilt Tube Electro Steer Remote Kicker Steering" saltwater. That one is a better design. It has not broke down yet.

I use them all summer long in salt water.

I've used the EZ steer rod system since I got my boat 8 years ago. Works excellent, initial set up only takes a few minutes, connect the rod to the two ball joints on your main and kicker and you are trolling in seconds. I ordered it from Cabelas website was at my door in a week.

What type of motors are you running? I have an old one I don't use anymore.
