Default Y2Y Bad for Alberta Hunters

I was watching a youtube video on Willmore, as the video past the middle at 30:32 a Jason Fisher was talking about the willmore, when the words of y2y came out, I got a bad feeling, did a goggle search, and this is what I found, Y2y funds his operation, in part, why do these people trash Alberta when they can.

It's part of their MO. No use for Y2Y at all. If they had their way, there would be a buffer zone around the Rockies that no humans would be able to enter.

here's a link to the Y2Y stance on hunting, fishing, trapping:
https://y2y.net/about-us/policies/y2...fishing-policy

Doesn't sound too threatening to me.

Alberta Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is also an arm, ( or tentacle) funded by Y2Y.

That is simply not true. I'd encourage you to meet with some of the folks involved in the organization.

I don't know if they are funded, but they certainly are on the same team.

The Y2Y statement equals a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

You need to pull your head out of the sand and do some REAL research.

It’s really sad what some hunters will believe...

Is there a group that supports hunting and fishing but is seriously concerned about protection of the backcountry environment?? I'm over 60 and still good with having to walk into some areas and carry or drag out what I harvest (and I'll be good with it when I'm to old to do it). Not trying to be cranky, just asking if there is such a body.

I have personally banned him at least 5x. Likely more. One wonders why he wants to peddle his poison on this forum so badly. Wolf.

Could be that other nut, Dwight Rodtka too......lol. Both of them like to hang out on the Trapping forum periodically when they just can’t help themselves from commenting on something.

Y2Y would like to create a big zoo from Yellowstone to Yukon. BHA would like the same with a few stipulations for outdoorsmen to make them sound legit. The end game is the same for both orgs.

I don’t think so, but that bunch like to pass themselves off that way. I’m pretty sure that he was a bureaucrat at a national park.......maybe Banff?

Not threatening, but definite agenda based.

First point made. They believe fishing and hunting is your right. FOR ABORIGINAL PEOPLE.

White Anglo Saxons be damned.

They do not want anybody(except the odd FN) on public land in the mountains. Period.

And yes, BHA has y2y as an affiliated group, or visa versa. Whatever. Both are eletist organizations.

That reads like a lawyer from Trudeau's office wrote it... Their very first "recognition",

"Hunting is an Indigenous right".

Last thing they "recognize" -

"Hunting MAY be an appropriate means to help maintain or manage fish and wildlife population health.

And immediately following that, they start in with the whole "Energy Policy" and Climate Change hogwash...

I hope you were being cheeky when you said they "don't sound threatening to me".

Stephen Legault, the program director for Y2Y Alberta shared this on his Facebook page last year, speaking about the big horn and castle areas-

"there is a push by some hunting organizations to get hunting and trapping opportunities increased in this new protected area......I am not in favour ...and want to ensure that this area is protected so that wildlife on the boundaries of Banff and Jasper have some buffer zones that protect them from hunting and trapping

Also, ask a few of them their stance on predator hunting.

Like the above shows they may not be 100% anti hunting but they definitely are not supporters of it being part of their “vision” of the Rockies.
