Need abit of help

Well i'm gonna go 2 sylvan and gull 2morrow probly and i've never fished either...I've also never fished for pike...Do i need a tip up??? what size line should i use?? and anyone know where i should go on sylvan?? probly gonna hit some perch on sylvan 2 any spots for them?? any help would be appreciated
