Depth?
Curious what depth you were fishing for the whitefish. I have only ever tried fishing there once in about 85 feet of water. Had the camera set up and saw and caught lots of Lakers but never seen any whitefish.

Have only ever targeted Lakers in spray. When I lived in Canmore years ago I would target whites with a fly road in goat and do really well though. I don’t know what it’s like theses days but it was good back in the day.

Hi There, if you use a royal coachman tipped with maggots you will also have good luck. I tie the royal coachman 12" above my lake trout jig and usually catch quite a few whites out deep along with lakers. There are days when the fly out catches the jig with the lakers as well. I caught my biggest laker to date on a coachman!
tight lines

Thanks! Yeah I don't think the whitefish are that picky, sure makes them fun to fish for.

My buddy and I fished all over that area in our late teens early 20s. My buddy used to cook pan fry Lakers he caught at spray before his shift in the pizza oven at work
May have to wonder south this summer and see if I still know how to catch fish in that area
