howmuch is the unit worth once repaired?

hard to say because you could repair it and save a ton.

or all the new high end units now are 700 plus on average.

that extra 500 plus tax could go toward a ton of lures, rods or even a whole new striker ice bib and jacket haha.

Like most things these days, u can repair one thing and then something else goes shortly afterward. If u have two back to back repairs for $180. It’s not worth it in my mind. I would however ask them what else normally goes wrong and what’s that worth to repair. Then make a decision.

Repair it and sell it to a buddy that needs one for the cost, it’s worth the price for a back up or yourself when you bring someone along.

I always go fishing with a friend that doesn't have a flasher. lol I always give it to the first timer. they just get hooked. The guy that always comes along but doesnt have a flasher doesnt deserve it. Just the new guy. You gotta give him a taste of ice fishing.

7 Yr old unit, I'd say $200 is all you'd get anyhow.

I'd take that money and put it toward a Vexilar FLX 8SE which is kind of the bulletproof standard. It would be the equivalent flasher to the LX3 or for a few bucks more an FLX 12.

I have had too many Marcums and Humminbirds that had issues. No more for me.

Upgrade to something new, I'll be upgrading next year unfortunately most of the units I'm looking at or seven hundred to to a thousand.

After a new motor and brushes I think it should be like new again so I think it’s still with it for an lx3. Hopefully they test it and make sure it’s good to go though before they send it back. At the end of the day though you’ll get your money back if you get it repaired and sell it for cost to a good buddy .

Considering the price of a new unit, if you've been happy with it thus far probably worth it to get it fixed. The motors and brushes are the major wear points and I don't see why it wouldn't go another 7 years post repair.

The thing is mechanical flashers haven't changed much in a long long time, and "upgrading" to an lcd unit isn't going to put any more fish on the ice for you.
