Default Velvet Archery Kill

First time looking to take a mule deer in velvet... Doesn't look like any bucks over the age of three in my area.. Looks to be a 110-120" 3x3 l... Don't think I'll get much chance to hunt next couple of years and I have been on a dry spell for quite awhile... Haven't filled the freezer in 3 years.

The buck is in a natural area small quarter of land, should I take him? Then hope to get a bigger WT buck later this year?

All general tags this year for me.

Lol.
Are you trying to fill your freezer or go head hunting?

Just feel bad taking small bucks but never done a velvet so wanted to experience it. I think I'll wait it out this week if another bigger one comes in then good if not I'll try for the next best thing.

Can wait to get out.

Let them go let them grow...if you want decent bucks in the future you have to let deer have a future.

Velvet is cool but not all it's cracked up to be

Haha...I like that!

Yes I bow hunt a little bit

Velvet is neat but fragile and expensive to preserve...hence my comment regarding that.

My other comment relates to you staring you haven't seen any older than 3 deer around.

Just making sure this guy bow hunts...advice to let em go let me grow typically comes from rifle hunters not understanding bow hunting difficulty.. Hence P&Y record book is a lot less on the " than B&C.. I would love to wait for a 150" plus deer with my bow but been atter 8 years and 145 is the biggest. Gonna be a busy guy the next few years with kids so won't have time and money to keep hunting much.

If everyone bow hunted their would be more deer and bigger deer out there.

If you want him, take him.
If you want to hold out till next year he will be bigger if he lives

I'm thinking you probably don't read the archery forum much. If you did, you would realize LC probably posts more about bowhunting than anyone other than maybe lost arrow (Neil). Both those guys are household names, so to speak, for the guys reading the archery forum. That's probably why you got the pope metaphor. I'm sure it was all in good humour
Cheers
And yes, I'm getting pumped for this weekend. Might be the only chance I get at elk this year and I can't wait. Bowhunting is way too much fun

IMO I would let them grow if the bucks aren't interesting you. The fun is in the hunting and if you're not really excited about the bucks then let them walk. Killing a velvet buck was a goal of mine for a few yrs too and when I did last year I was happy but it was also the biggest mulie I had arrowed. You can get the whole package if you keep at it! Good luck and have fun.

if your this jacked up go and hunt this deer. Play the game nothing's 100% who knows you could hunt your bag off and come up empty handed. When the moment of truth happens you will either settle and release or let him keep walking.
