I have been married for 36 years and in all that time I have only forgotten our anniversary maybe 10 or 15 times. If you want my advice boys try and remember at least 60 % of the time to keep the little woman happy.

OK short reply
anniversary a bust
wifey went to small town to help with wedding day for the daughter of a close friend and I went to calmar and sold a rifle and accessories 600 yard br rifle
known as a BAT
went for a walk next day and a drive looking at the bright foliage ( white avenue was out as too far and country roads were as nice this year)

farmland did not grow enough after first cutting in order that I used the lawnmower to put
Happy 39th Bitcoin or bitxx u get the message

she wore a mask and one of the bridesmaids tested positive a few days later. UGG

Wife b b q ribs next night as restaurant would not allow in person even with vax passport just issued

soft ice cream in a waffle cone satisfied my sexual appetite for the day

played with the pets, discussed her mother passing and other topics for a while

in bed before the new year approaches

kind of boring but no accidents and she was happy

nobody texted her or called as it was a day late so no interruptions

my life insurance is paid up so she is happy

Later eh and thanks for all the suggestions

Congrats. My advice is … just do something! Anything. Anything but nothing. I did nothing…. Not sure why I didn’t make an effort but I guess I never really did. Hind sight really is 20/20.

Write up a voucher that you will do for her, she can "cash" whenever she
wants to. We are into our 52nd year.

Ain’t that the truth! I have an upcoming appt with a counselor to work through some things but as I take a gander at some old posts on here, I think I should just hire some of you guys to counsel me 😂. This thread caught my eye again because it would be my parents 60th anniversary next month if they were here to celebrate it. Dad liked to joked a lot - he’d make wise cracks about how moms place was in the kitchen and those types of things. She would just laugh. Boy a guy could get away with more back then lol! He never forgot an anniversary though. Every single year she got beautiful expensive flower shop arrangements, a card and a heartfelt letter. Even on the rough years, he always did it. He would block the evening off for them to go for supper alone and reminisce. It was the one day of the year that we knew we were on our own atleast for a few hours in the evening. he didn’t let any commitment interfere or take priority, nor should he of. Quite beautiful really. Congrats to all you guys who are beating the odds and adding years to the anniversary calculator!

Most suggestions are grounds for divorce.

Do something for the both of you. It isnt HER day, its the two of you.

42 years ago for our first anniversary I bought a state of the art "porta-potty" - since then she is relieved if I don't go shopping for big events - and I thought it was a nice addition to our 3/4 inch plywood sleeper inside the topper in back of truck

ok since you asked

40th happened I guess

worst 6 months almost of my life
breathing worsened, not great decided to move to town as thought would not, live more than a year or two at most, thought decision to come to

bought a place in town that turned out to be a construction nightmare, original builder went bankrupt and house was patched together, never inspected and covered over, nothing that 50 grand cannot fix

house in country did not sell yet, nor other lands we own

used up almost every penny in savings, bank said we don’t make enough to afford payments even though asset rich, with new lending laws

gave cats away to one lady and r]they ran away cause of the dogs

breathing is better since no gravel pits nearby but almost considered doing an end of life thingy a couple of months ago

wife was so stressed out that she did not buy me a card, first time in yes 40 years

but still here, breathing is better, wife is still speaking to me and so on

don’t feel sorry as many many many many are worse off then us

if it wasn’t for next year and tomorrow we would have nothing to live for

I am well other than the nerves for root canal acting up

you win some and lose some
a wise man once said if you fall on your nose keep churning your g]back legs as at some point your head will indeed come back,up and you will be able to see what is ahead

again I am good, don’t worry or be caring more people than me are a heck of a lot worse off

I like what comes every day as I always say it can on,y get worse if yiu stop and give up

last words to,live by

the only 2 things people really understand is

wait for it

pain and money

later.

maybe in another year. hehehehe

That is quite the update! Yes - as you said, there are others who likely have it worse no doubt, but it does sound like you have your hands full and I hope things take a more positive turn soon. In an attempt to add humour… atleast your wife is still there - not taking half of the assets in a divorce lol. On a more heartfelt note though, wow! 40 years of weathering the storms together. That’s amazing. Congrats to you guys for sticking together and finding a way to continue to support Each other and stay together. I’m sure every marriage, especially the 40 year ones, have awesome highs but also deep lows that are hard to fight through sometimes. It can be an easier path to just walk away instead of putting the effort in. I whole heartedly respect people like you. I would guess that despite the trying times - you will fight forward and come out on top!

Both of you, each in their own circumstances
